US President Donald Trump on Thursday signed a presidential memorandum seeking to reinstate the death penalty in Washington, as US Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the Justice Department will be seeking capital punishment across the country.
特朗普在椭圆形办公室向记者表示：“在华盛顿特区推行死刑，如果有人杀人，或是杀害警察、执法人员，就该判死刑。希望这样一来，没人再敢犯这种事。”
“在首都推行死刑，这事儿很有意思。‘死刑’（capital punishment）、‘首都’（capital），同一个词。” 他补充道。
"The death penalty in Washington," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. "You kill somebody, or if you kill a police officer, law enforcement officer — death penalty. And hopefully they wont do that."
"Its a very interesting capital punishment, capital city. Capital, capital, capital," he added.
当时在椭圆形办公室站在特朗普身旁的邦迪宣布：“我们不仅要在华盛顿特区寻求判处死刑，还要在全美范围内推行。”
邦迪还表示，司法部目前正着手将前总统拜登时期被移出死刑犯名单的囚犯，安置到最高安保级别的监狱。
“我们会把他们转移到‘超级监狱’，在余生中，他们将被当作死刑犯对待。”邦迪说。
Bondi, who stood beside Trump in the Oval Office, announced: "Not only are we seeking it in Washington, but all over the country, again."
The attorney general added that the Justice Department is also in the process of placing inmates who had been moved off death row by former president Joe Biden into maximum security facilities.
"Were moving them to Supermax facilities where they will be treated like theyre on death row for the rest of their lives," Bondi said.
